The Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF) connects the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Welfare to donate medical masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), air sterilizers, ear thermometers and other epidemic prevention to the Vietnam National Children's Hospital in Hanoi (VNCH) and the Odonto-Maxillo-Facial Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City (OMFH). The NCF's donation is worth more than US$ 40,000.There are large number of COVID-19 frontline workers in VNCH and OMFH. Medical supplies are urgently needed.

The donation ceremony held by videoconference was attended by the NCF CEO Chen Yi-ling (陳依伶), NCF Consultant Rebecca Wang (王金英), Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam representative office counselor Chang Jian-Ming (昌建明), Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City Office Leader Huang Huan-Song (黃煥松), Global Medical Instruments Support & Service Program (GMISS) Professor Huang Yi-You(黃義侑), VNCH Director Tran Minh Dien and the OMFH director Nguyen Đuc Minh.

NCF CEO Chen Yi-ling said Taiwan has just stepped out of the epidemic and feels particularly empathetic to the plight of the epidemic in Vietnam. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the NCF has been working closely with international NGOs and medical partners to provide timely assistance, such as relief funds for overseas craniofacial patients, medical supplies or food donation to international teams.

Taiwan's Representative to Vietnam Chang Jian-Ming said that this donation is another successful case of Taiwan Can Help. Since the outbreak of the epidemic last year, Taiwan, Vietnam and the non-governmental parties have cooperated more and more on international assistance. 

VNCH Director Tran Minh Dien said that NCF has been helping the VNCH to build up a comprehensive craniofacial team by providing medical personnel training, free cleft surgeries and medical subsidies since 2018. When the Covid-19 pandemic started, the NCF kept delivering timely essential medical supplies to help us tide over the epidemic.

The OMFH director Nguyen Đuc Minh also stated that the OMFH has admitted a large number of COVID-19 patients, and the demand for medical supplies has increased. The donation from the NCF came at just the right moment.

NCF is a non-governmental organization set up in 1989 to provide comprehensive care for patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other craniofacial deformities. Based in Taiwan, NCF has cooperated with hospitals in more than 20 countries to establish medical missions, medical personnel training, and craniofacial centers. NCF started its cooperation in Vietnam since 1998, sending 16 cleft medical missions, training 19 medical personnel, and donations of medical instruments and supplies.
