To encourage children with craniofacial conditions, the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF) has been organizing annual art competitions for the past few years. Through painting, children rediscover joy, creativity and most importantly, confidence.

This year’s theme for the 2025 Charity Desk Calendar is “My Best Friend.” Submissions came not only from Taiwan but also from the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam.

In September 2024, the NCF proudly held the “My Best Friend” 2025 Charity Desk Calendar Award Ceremony. Eight children from Taiwan and four from overseas were recognized for their outstanding artwork. Together, they used their voices and talents to advocate for children with craniofacial differences, calling on the public to support the initiative by purchasing the 2025 Charity Desk Calendar.

One of the most touching moments of the event came from Ang Puyneang, a 12-year-old girl from Cambodia born with a cleft lip and palate. Dressed in traditional Khmer attire, she traveled to Taiwan to receive her award in person, thanking the NCF for its 38 rounds of medical sponsorship provided over the past 12 years. “Thank you to the NCF for taking care of me for the past 12 years, and for recognizing me through this calendar. I am also thankful to my mother—when she discovered my condition during a prenatal checkup, she bravely chose to give birth to me.”

Her words moved everyone present, a reminder that every child deserves to be seen and heard, regardless of their appearance.
For more than two decades, the NCF has empowered children with craniofacial conditions to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their dreams. Through ongoing medical care, emotional support and creative events like this art competition, the NCF continues to plant seeds of courage and hope in the hearts of children and families across Asia.
