While each of us is born into this world a unique
individual, we are all capable of leading equally good and meaningful
lives. Growth is a process of constantly resolving problems, with
an equal share of sorrow and joy. This club is like a big family,
here to cry with you and share your joy as you grow, provide mutual
support, and ensure that our futures are bright and never lonely.
Mission
1. Self-acceptance, self-growth: Cleft lip/palate is not our fault,
yet if we are not able to accept ourselves as a result it will be
that much harder for others to accept us and lend their support.
So let us love ourselves, care for ourselves, and live with self-esteem
and confidence.
2. Mutual and self-help: Discover the joys of life by helping make
others happy, too. When we no longer lament and feel sorry for ourselves
we take the first step toward success. The process of caring, supporting,
and giving to others fosters self-understanding and appreciation
for the joys of growing up.
Want to join us?
People who have been there themselves are here to share their experiences,
provide emotional support, and offer general medical counseling.
Donˇ¦t be shy. Weˇ¦re open to anyone with cleft lip/palate aged 16
and over, so give us a call.
Brief History
Since our establishment in June 1994 we have set up additional youth
groups in central and southern Taiwan and our membership has grown
to several dozens. We are proud to be a part of their encouraging
growth and increased confidence and zest for life.
Services
1. Hospital Visits: We visit patients in the hospital and before
and after surgery to share our experiences and demonstrate our concern
for them while providing useful medical information.
2. Group Activities: We host a variety of social activities throughout
the year to further contact and exchange of experiences among youths.
Activities, averaging two to three per year, include fun excursions
and annual parties.
3. Medical Lectures: Providing the latest medical information for
Youth Group members to become familiar with their medical needs.
4. Living Classroom: A platform upon which Youth Group members
can express themselves and share their talents with others.
